Exmoor b and b

Exmoor b and b,Exmoor accommodation, country pub restaurant This popular Inn and restaurant is in the centre of Wheddon Cross, the highest village on Exmoor, and a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful National Park.

The Inn was originally a staging post for travellers on their way between Dunster and Dulverton, and you will still find a warm welcome, good food and extremely comfortable accommodation awaiting you there today, almost 200 years later!
Whether you are looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings, or a more active holiday, the Rest and Be Thankful Inn and Exmoor are sure to meet your every need.

If you are looking for a walking, cycling, or fly-fishing break, we will do everything we can to provide you with the perfect holiday. There is a secure store at the Inn, where cycles and other equipment can be kept, and we also have a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Horse riding and hunting can be arranged with prior notice.
Location

Wheddon Cross, as its name suggests, sits on a crossroads near the centre of Exmoor. From here you have easy access to all parts of the National Park.

The medieval village of Dunster is 6 miles away, with the seaside town of Minehead a further 3 miles. The pretty villages of Selworthy and Bossington in the National Trust owned Holnicote Estate are worth a visit, as are Winsford and Exford.

Approximately 2 miles from the Inn
Of course the main attractions of Exmoor are its stunning scenery and its abundant wildlife, especially the famous red deer herd, and Exmoor ponies. A ten-minute drive from the Rest and Be Thankful will take you to the heather-clad slopes of Dunkery Beacon, the highest point in Somerset. From this viewpoint, you can see virtually the whole of Exmoor laid out before you.
A famous local attraction in February is Snowdrop Valley, when the ground is carpeted with snowdrops, making a beautiful sight at the end of winter. Snowdrop Valley is just a 45 minute walk from the Rest and Be Thankful.

There is also a bus service which runs from the inn’s car park to the valley during this month. Please click here for further information on Snowdrop Valley.

Food and Drink

The Rest and Be Thankful is a traditional country pub, with a reputation for good home-cooked food, a selection of real ales, wines and local cider for you to try.

You can relax with a drink in the bar, and enjoy a light snack or bar meal in front of a log fire.

The Sunday lunchtime carvery is always popular, with locals and visitors. Families with children of all ages are welcome.
