Christmas Charity Cards for Good Causes
at Past & Presents, Old School House, East Lulworth

When you walk into Past & Presents at the Old School House you will be greeted with an Aladdin’s cave of distinctive and diverse antique and contemporary gifts, cards and & confectionery…. and from 25th September, a wonderful range of Christmas cards from Cards for Good Causes, representing many different charities such as Cancer Research UK, Care, Mind, NSPCC, RNIB, Help the Aged and many more.

And it’s not just Christmas cards! Past & Presents has included a range of Christmas goods, including advent calendars, Christmas wrapping paper and gift tags from Cards for Good Causes to help raise more money for the Charities.

Mrs Weld, Lulworth Estate says, “we are pleased to support Cards for Good Causes again this year. They are an important non-profit making organisation who offer a good selection of cards for those wishing to help a charity close to their heart. We in turn ensure that all of the income goes straight back to the charity and do not deduct operating costs like some other outlets”.

Past and Presents is a thriving gift shop and Internet Café retailing a fine selection of gifts, artwork, ceramics, kitchen & garden accessories, pottery and much more, many of the items are not for sale in the surrounding area. There is also high-speed broadband internet access, colour printing and word processing programs available together with a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy refreshments and delicious Dorset cream teas in the café.

Past and Presents at the Old School House is situated in East Lulworth, close to The Weld Arms. Follow the brown signs to Lulworth Castle, which is just off the A352 between Wool and Wareham on the B 3070 and follow the blue direction boards. Open Mon to Sun 10.00am to 4pm. Parking is free.

Christmas Magic at Lulworth Castle

Lulworth Castle will be bringing the magic of Christmas alive this year when we welcome Merlin the marvellous Magician to enchant and charm you over the festive season. He will be conjuring up lots of mystical illusions and magical spells to keep those little faces glowing with merriment and wonder.

Whilst Merlin sprinkles his magic over the Castle, you and your family can enjoy traditional games, ‘Hunt the Cracker’ and make a star, Wizard’s hat and wand at the themed activity table. There will also be face-painting (small additional charge) and Christmas quizzes to puzzle over and prizes to be won!

The Castle will be dressed in fine Festive decoration and you can help too! Everyone will have the opportunity to help make the longest ever paperchain to adorn the Castle. And who knows, with enough helpers it could be the longest paperchain in the World!

To warm your red nose and icey toes enjoy a glass of spicy mulled wine, hot chocolate or a mince pie at the Stable Café or enjoy lunch from the Christmas menu. The Courtyard Shop will also be open for you to browse around.

So come along, wave your magic wand and enjoy a sparkling and spellbound magical Christmas time at Lulworth Castle from Sunday 21st December 08 to Friday 2nd January 09 (Closed 24th & 25th December). CAMP BESTIVAL SCOOPS BEST NEW FESTIVAL AWARD

Lulworth are proud to announce Camp Bestival has won Best New Festival at this year’s Virtual Festival Awards. Voted for by the festival going public, the people whose opinions really count, the award is vindication for the unstinting effort that has gone into staging the brand new event.

Created by the award-winning team behind Bestival and curated by BBC Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, Camp Bestival has the emphasis on more family-orientated action with proper festival fun for all ages. There was a huge Kids Field packed with tantalising treats, plus spoken word, comedy, fancy dress frolics at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and a world-class music bill that ranged from bands in their teens right up to octogenarian rockers.

Lulworth Castle celebrates 400 Years!

Lulworth Castle recently celebrated its 400 th anniversary with an evening reception hosted by Wilfrid and Sally Weld, the owners of the Castle. Speaking about the history of the Castle, Wilfrid Weld said “The Hunting Lodge was originally built for entertaining and to encourage King James I to visit. We are delighted that 400 years later the Castle is still a wonderful setting for entertaining.”

The international attendance of guests included friends and family from Ireland , America , as well as the UK , were entertained in sumptuous ancestral surroundings. The celebrations began with an evening reception followed by Beating the Retreat, performed by the band of the Royal Signals Regiment based at Blandford Camp. The highlight of the evening was a dinner for over a 100 members of the Weld family hosted by Mr and Mrs Weld.
