Rocky island crowned by medieval church and castle, home to a living community

  • Rocky island crowned by medieval church and castle
  • Home of the St Aubyn family for over 300 years

The great granite crag which rises from the waters of Mount's Bay is surmounted by an embattled 14thC castle, home of the St Aubyn family for over 300 years.

Accessible on foot at low tide across the causeway, at other times it is reached by a short evocative boat trip. The oldest surviving buildings date from the 12th century, when a Benedictine priory was founded here.
