West Bay - West Beach, Bridport, Dorset

Pebbly beach, ideal for children.

The beach is consists mainly of fine pebbles with shingle and sand near to the water's edge. West Beach is ideal for younger children due to a protective cove being formed between the harbour’s new west pier (Jurassic Pier) and the esplanade’s rock armour groynes.

Castle Cove Beach, Portland, Dorset

Small and secluded beach close to Portland Harbour.

The beaches at Portland Harbour are small and secluded. They are sat on a spit, similar to Chesil Beach. Castle Cove is a small privately owned sandy beach backed by cliffs. Sandsfoot is very tranquil and popular with locals. It is set in the shadows of the ruins of Sandsfoot castle and gardens.

Seatown, Chideock, Dorset

Great for fossil collecting!

A shingle beach set in a bay beneath the highest point on the south coast, the imposing Golden Cap. The beach is great for collecting fossils and is also very popular with fishermen.

Lulworth Cove Beach, Nr West Lulworth, Dorset

The sheltered nature of this unique cove makes it the ideal place for swimming, snorkelling or just relaxing. There’s an excellent cliff top walk to Durdle Door and during the summer you can take boat trips along the Jurassic Coast.
