Preston is a red sandy beach adjacent to Paignton Sands. A popular family beach with a long promenade and neighbouring colourful beach huts next to Preston Green, which runs along the back of the beach. To the left of the beach is a rock pool area.

The sand and shingle beach is within easy reach of Torquay and offers safe swimming with care. There are good coastal walks from the beach and some excellent panoramic views along the coast.

The beach is an idyllic spot and is safe for swimming with care. It is quieter than other beaches in Torquay due to a steep climb that makes it difficult for prams and disabled access.

This beach is owned by the National Trust and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The beach comprises coarse sand with rocky outcrops and has plenty of rockpools to explore at low tide.
