Shell Bay is a beautiful sandy beach with easy access by road or ferry. The fine sand is ideal for building sand castles and there are dunes to explore too. There is also a woodland nature trail behind the beach.

Jacobs Ladder Beach, Sidmouth, Devon (South Coast)

Popular family beach set beneath tall red cliffs.

Jacob’s Ladder beach is approximately 1 mile long and is set in a beautiful sheltered bay. It consists mainly of pebbles with a large expanse of sand at low water. When the tide is out there are plenty of rock pools to play in. Beautiful, tall red cliffs back the beach.

Sidmouth - Town Beach, Sidmouth, Devon (South Coast)

Sheltered, pebble beach backed by a promenade.

The beach in Sidmouth is approximately a mile long. Set in a bay it is fairly sheltered. The beach itself consists mainly pebbles but it is occasionally sandy when the tide recedes.

Porthgwidden is a small, sandy beach which is popular for those families with small children. It is a delightful sun-trap with safe bathing and lifeguards on patrol during the summer season. The beach is convenient for the town and also has a good restaurant close by.
