A very atmospheric environment, the beach nestles below very steep cliffs and is approached via a wooded valley. It has golden sand on the left and rock pools on the right great for catching crabs and small fish, particularly during the summer months.

Porthgwidden Beach, St Ives, Cornwall (South Coast)

A sandy, sheltered cove, popular with children.

Porthgwidden is a small, sandy beach which is popular for those families with small children. It is a delightful sun-trap with safe bathing and lifeguards on patrol during the summer season. The beach is convenient for the town and also has a good restaurant close by.

Gorran Haven Vault Beach, Gorran Haven, Cornwall (South Coast)

A long, sandy beach set beneath tall, heather covered cliffs. Although the access can be difficult it is a safe beach for familes.

Beacon Cove, Torbay, Devon (South Coast)

A perfect haven away from the main beach.

A small pebbled cove close to the harbour and town centre providing some respite from the bustle of a busy resort.

Durdle Door West Beach, Nr West Lulworth, Dorset

Steep steps lead down to this un-commercial beach at one of Dorset’s most recognisable coastal features. Although the water is fairly sheltered near the arch swimmers should be careful as the beach does drop away quite quickly.
