The main beach at Bovisand is a sheltered bay of yellow sands with cliffs on either side. It’s popular with locals and visiting families and there’s a large expanse of sand for ball games at low tide.

Putsborough Sands Beach, Nr Croyde, Devon (North Coast)

Miles of golden sand, open to the Atlantic and great bathing

There are rock pools for toddlers, surfing for the athletic and walking for the more relaxed. Generally uncommercialised, there is a small beach café, ample parking, a toilet block and a small caravan park, where booking is essential.

Coverack Beach, Coverack, Cornwall (South Coast)

Small beach set in attractive fishing village.

Daymer Bay, Padstow, Cornwall (North Coast)

A wide, sandy beach backed by dunes.

The beach at Daymer Bay is wide, sandy and secluded. The beach itself lies within the mouth of the Camel Estuary and so is sheltered. The gently sloping beach makes it safe for swimming and ideal for families.

Beacon Cove, Torbay, Devon (South Coast)

A perfect haven away from the main beach.
