Things to Do: Beaches
Goodrington Sands Beach, Paignton, Devon (South Coast)
A long sandy beach with excellent rock pools at low tide
Other attractions close to the beach include Torbay Coastal Marine Centre, Quaywest water park and Goodrington railway station with its steam train.
Access to St Mary's Bay may be difficult but if you persevere you will find a delightful sand and shingle stretch of beach at the bottom of the cliffs.
A small pebbled cove close to the harbour and town centre providing some respite from the bustle of a busy resort.
The beaches at Portland Harbour are small and secluded. They are sat on a spit, similar to Chesil Beach. Castle Cove is a small privately owned sandy beach backed by cliffs. Sandsfoot is very tranquil and popular with locals. It is set in the shadows of the ruins of Sandsfoot castle and gardens.
Durdle Door East Beach, West Lulworth, Dorset
Sand and shingle beach at the Durdle Door coastal arch.
Steep steps lead down to this un-commercial beach at one of Dorset’s most recognisable coastal features. Although the water is fairly sheltered near the arch swimmers should be careful as the beach does drop away quite quickly.
