Portreath Beach, Portreath, Cornwall (North Coast)
Atlantic beach adjoining a small harbour, enclosed by rock pools and cliffs
Portreath offers a busy Atlantic beach that adjoins a small working harbour which, in turn, is enclosed by rock pools and steep cliffs. The resort incorporates many facilities and serves both visitors and residents from the nearby towns of Camborne and Redruth.
The beach boasts rock pools at its northern and southern ends at low water. There are substantial sand dunes along its eastern boundary, which adjoins a golf course.
Watergate Bay Beach, Nr Newquay, Cornwall (North Coast)
This fantastic mile long sandy beach is popular with surfers and great for families
Newquays biggest and most spectacular of beaches is 3 miles out of town on the coast road towards Padstow. Your first glimpse of the bay as you come over the top of the hill is one of the most memorable views in Cornwall.
This beach has great views across the bay and is ideal for sunbathing and beach games. Swimming is good but you should stay between the flags and avoid the estuary. There are also good walks across the dunes (The Towans) if you want to get away from the beach.
